G & D Construction installs wrought iron railings, custom gates and roll up gates, each anchored into solid concrete or masonry so it stays secure and works smoothly.
Gates and railings shape the first impression of a property while keeping people safe and spaces secure. G & D Construction installs wrought iron railwork, custom gates and roll up gates for homes, businesses and government properties in Lanham and across Prince George's County.
Where concrete support is needed, the layout and base work are planned together instead of treating the gate or railing as a separate afterthought. That helps keep the placement aligned with the walkway, driveway, steps, wall, or other surrounding construction.

Custom gates & railing services
Wrought Iron Railwork & Fences
Wrought iron railings and fences add strength and old-world elegance to steps, porches, balconies and property lines. We install sturdy, finished ironwork anchored securely into concrete or masonry for safety and lasting stability.
Custom Gates
A custom gate is built to fit your opening, your fence and your style. We install swing and sliding gates for driveways, walkways and gardens, hung on solid posts so they don't sag.
Roll Up Gate Installation
Roll up gates secure storefronts, warehouses, loading docks and storage areas while taking up no floor space. We install roll up gates mounted squarely and securely so they operate smoothly day after day.
Gate Repair & Adjustment
A gate that drags, sags or will not latch usually points to a problem below the hinges. We reset posts in concrete, realign hardware and repair frames so your gate swings and latches.
Our process
How the job goes
1
We review the site
We start where the gate or railing will go. We measure the opening, check the grade and look at nearby driveways, walkways, steps and existing concrete before anything is laid out.
2
We set the layout
Post and mounting positions are marked so the gate or railing lines up with the surrounding features. This is when we decide on swing direction, clearances and support locations.
3
We prepare solid support
Posts are set in new concrete, or mounts are anchored into sound existing concrete or masonry. Getting this right is what keeps a gate from sagging and a railing from loosening.
4
We install and check the fit
The gate or railing is installed and checked for level, alignment and clearance. Gates are tested to make sure they swing, latch and close properly before we call the job done.
Scope
What the job includes
Every job is quoted after we measure the opening and review the existing concrete, the grade and the support the installation needs.
Can a railing be attached to my existing steps or concrete?
Often, yes. If the existing concrete or masonry is sound, we can anchor the railing directly to it. If it's cracked or crumbling, we'll recommend repairing it or pouring new support first so the railing stays secure.
What makes your gates and railings custom?
Each one is built around your actual opening, grade and surroundings rather than a standard size. That means a gate that fits its opening properly and a railing that follows your steps exactly.
Why does my gate sag or drag?
Usually it's the posts, not the gate. A post that wasn't set deep enough in concrete, or that has shifted over time, pulls the gate out of line. We can reset the posts and realign the gate.
What should I have ready before requesting a quote?
Note where the gate or railing will go, its rough width or length, and the style you have in mind, such as wrought iron, a swing gate or a roll up gate. Photos of the area help too.
The work was done in a timely manner. My only concern was the placement of some of the equipment on my lawn killed some of the grass.
